Today bloggers have united against abuse and I have chosen to post about the dumping of kittens in the woods. They are unprotected as kittens, not able to catch food because they haven't been taught how to by their mothers. So they starve and are bait for predators.
One of my cats, Saff, was acquired this way. A hiker heard him mewling in the woods and found the tiny male kitten wandering alone, desperate and starved down to the bone. When I said I'd take Saff he had a huge gouge on the back of his neck that looked like some animal had almost snagged him.
Saff's the dearest and most appreciative cat I have ever owned. I have promised Saff he will never go hungry again and he hasn't. I'll never forget the first night with him. I placed a can of food down and he feasted on it, then came back later and couldn't believe his eyes there was more food there for him.
Please don't dump helpless kittens in the woods!!! It breaks my heart to even think of it.
Hugs, JJ

Our 2 year old tabby cat, Tiger Lily, was found as a brand new kitten, dumped out in a ditch. Luckily for us, our neighbor found her, brought this little, tiny bundle to our house and asked if we'd keep her. Knowing my love for cats, he'd come to the right place. I kept her, fleas and all and now we have the most loving, crazy cat. I couldn't believe, though, that someone could dispose of a living creature (especially a cat!) like it was garbage!
Any kind of abuse is completely unacceptable and I'm glad to see people uniting to try to do something about it!

Thanks for saving Tiger Lily and sharing your beautiful story, Melissa. :D It is a tragic occurrence that happens way to often. And the bundles disposed of are such a joy. Life can stink sometimes. I pray for a change.
Give Tiger Lily a hug for me!!!

Dear jj,
Your blog lifts my spirit each day. Your pictures make me miss northern Michigan more and more.
I don't have any pets at this time but, as a retired Biologist, I love almost all our fellow creatures. Of course, there is no excuse for humans to abuse any animal.
Your Florida friend,
Richard
Wild wave to Richard!!! I'm glad you're enjoying my blog. Animals have more personality than some humans notice. It's a shame everyone doesn't connect with them.
I'm glad I can bring Northern Michigan and the UP to your computer in Florida. :D

jj I still cannot believe how people can do that to these kittens. I have this cat in the neighbourhood where owners don't really take care of him, so he is making friends with me. Staff is very lucky to have you, Anna :)
Thanks, Anna. :D I love Saff and all my cats. They each have such cute personalities!!!
Hugs, Nancy
Made me cry.....poor little mites. I really feel for them. hug them for me. Hugs for you
It was awful to see how starved Saff was, Purple Lady. I pray no more kittens go through this.
I'll give Saff a hug from you. :D
