An Idyllic Autumn Church Scene and a Surprise Find :D

As you can see autumn has brushed strokes on Cheboygan's landscape and this idyllic St. James' Episcopal church scene caught my camera lens. I adore small churches because I grew up in one that to my grief was torn down to make way for a larger church of a more modern construction. In my heart I miss the smaller church that had high, narrow stained glass windows that I memorized and an altar I took my first communion at. I used to sit in the balcony during the church services by the majestic pipe organ that filled my soul with music.

On our recent trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan I had a surprise find at the edge of a grocery store parking lot in Paradise. There in front of a wide branching maple tree stood a cathedral birdfeeder! I loved snapping a photo of it. Soon chickadees and goldfinches, evening grosbeaks, purple finches, red polls and bluejays will visit the feeder to sustain their tiny bodies through the bitter winter. And red squirrels will take their share too. :D When the landscape is muffled with snow all the action one may see during a dark winter day is at the bird feeder. If you don't want to be lonely during winter the birds are more than happy to entertain you.

jj I really like the picture of the wooden church you took. You just reminded me when I was young and used to go to this small wooden church but then we had to go to the city to bigger church, and I missed it very much. Enjoy reading your post, and I think I am going to have fun this winter on my backyard, because first time in years I been getting birds - last one was today's woodpecker. Anna :

Anna, I know how you miss your small wooden church. All that's left to mine is the altar, which they set in the new church's basement.

I can't wait to see your birdfeeder photos. :D That woodpecker will eat solid shortening off your fingertips if you stand still by the feeder long enough. :D Act like a statue and the birds will come!!!

Imagine, after an exhausting week of the daily facade everyone puts on every morning before we step out our doors, the ability to go to a place where none of that defines the person you are. Where you are not judged by the car you drive, the type of job that you have, or the clothes on your back. Imagine a place where everyone's the same, and you'll imagine what it's like to visit naturistspace.org.
