The heart of winter found Northern Michigan early this year with back to back storms that have been relentless. We have snow that is comparable to later January of other seasons. When I was outside snapping photos today I heard two trees snap off and crash to the snow laden forest floor.
In this photo Jeff has the snowblower running and is clearing a pathway where we can walk without snow shoes. The good news is that the snowblower has banked enough snow against the house so the floors are more insulated from the cold. This also will keep the pipes from freezing when a northeaster blows arctic air this way.
On another note, we were able to celebrate Christmas with my parents yesterday. :D We high-tailed to their house for a short visit while there was a lull in the rain and snowfall. They were doing well and now we all look forward to the New Year.
Have a super week!
Hugs, JJ

Happy New Year to you too, dear.

Cool you were able to finally celebrate Christmas with your parents. We have had quite a bit of snow too, but the cold has been stupid, getting real tired of it,lol.
Bob, I'll post a sunny pic next. :D I'm with you!!!

A snow blower is a true friend of a michigander! Looking forward to your posts in 2009 my friend!
Thank you, Shell. We do have fun visiting each other's blogs, don't we!!! :D I am sooooo happy we connected from the same neck of the woods. We can cry on each other's shoulders during the bad weather and celebrate the good.
I look forward to 2009 and your blog also!!!
I love my friends. :D
Hugs, JJ
I don't have a clue what we would do with that kind of snow. I sure don't envy you. Very thankful you have the snow blower.
So glad you were able to have Christmas with your parents. Time with our loved ones is so special.
Hugs!
Great photo. Love the composition. What would you do without Jeff? He's a super hero.
Kia ora JJ,
Glad to read you finally caught up with your parents. All that snow! Good to read you guys are using the snow to your benefit. Jeff looks good behind that snow blower. I remember as a kid in Wisconsin, when snow blowers were pretty rare really, and guys used to just drop dead of heart attacks while shoveling snow! Heading into the mountains, 24 hours and counting, Yes!
Aroha,
Robb
Leah, there are days when the snow delights me. :D When it's all fluff and the sun shines on it and makes ice diamonds glow.
Thank you for visiting. :D
Suzanne, Jeff is a super hero!!! :D He can tackle the nature God brings us.
I'm happy you enjoyed the snow photo.
Robb, have a super time in the mountains. :D Can't WAIT to read about your trekking.
Jeff is thinking about making snow and ice sculptures so I am looking forward to the freezing weather.
People still do fall over with heart attacks while shoveling snow. I'm glad we have a snowblower.
Have a beautiful day, dear readers!!!
Hugs, JJ
Gee that looks like here. We're having an old fashion Minnesota winter - what happened to that global warming trend? The snow sports folks are happy though. Have to go out and move the snow around now. Happy New Year.
I don't really know your winters but it does look like a lot of snow. Looks like Russia when I was there last. Would the temperatures be way below 0 degrees? I'm glad you made it to your parents though. Happy New Year JJ!
Danny, that global warming trend must have skipped out of the atmosphere. LOL It's bone chilling here too. I would say "have fun" moving the snow around but I haven't heard a person take great joy in that yet. :D
Happy New Year!!!
Kat, our temps do dip below zero and times and I bet our weather is like Russia's. We get arctic blasts that make their way from Canada.
Happy New Year!!!
You guys make my heart sing. :D

I wish I had snow for Christmas! But I am happy for you anyway :)
And great photo of the leaves!
JJ oh my that is lot of snow. Glad that you were able to spend your xmas with your parents. Hope all is well. Anna :)
When dealing with the bit of ice and snow we get, I have often wondered how those in northern climes deal with it. Of course, the snow itself is an insulator! Your post was very informative of your lifestyle. Thanks for sharing.
Donna
Thank you, Donna. :D I'm happy enjoyed the winter blog post. :D
Hugs, JJ
Greg, we have had one hard winter and it has just begun. Wish I could send you some of my snow. :D I'm happy you enjoyed the leaves photo. :D Thanks.
Anna, we even were able to see the Christmas Ever service...they had it today because the power was out at the church when the presentation was supposed to happen.
Thanks, hon. All is well. :D
Hugs, JJ
