Lower Tahquamenon Falls, Michigan

Last summer when we were camping at the Lower Tahquamenon Falls in Michigan, Jeff rowed me over to a small island that is surrounded by lovely cascading falls, and the music from them delighted our ears so much that we never wanted the allowed hours there to end. It was great also hearing the soothing falls at night from the campground. What a way to go to sleep. This photo of the park's colorful stacked rowboats brought all the flavor of that adventure back to me when I was reviewing my digitals. :D

We had a romantic time that warm autumn day. We held hands, laughed in the sunshine, strolled the pine scented paths that led us around the island, sat down and dreamt the time away.

The second photo shows how some of the Lower Tahquamenon Falls looked like from a walkway. You can see how marvelous and scenic they are!

We're heading to the Upper Tahquamenon Falls soon and a surreal landscape awaits us because the falls have a portion that freezes over in the winter and the mist coats the riverbanks with weird icicles that makes you think you have stepped onto another planet. We won't have the sun to warm us on this trip but it's worth bundling up to see the falls this time of year. If the Lower Tahquamenon Falls are viewable during this season, we will also stop there for some shots.

Hugs, JJ

I highly recommend snowshoeing the lower and upper falls in march. Mt.Man and I did it a few years ago, just did the short treks to the falls...It was a beautiful sunny warm march day. When you get to the upper falls, just before you go down the stairs look for "AE 08", that was from my trip with my girly pal last fall. Beautiful pic, lovely blog.

Nature Lovin', what an awesome idea. :D Jeff and I will have to consider snowshoeing in March, when the temps move up. Isn't the windchill hard to take now? Brrr

Thank you, dear.

Kia ora JJ,
The best sleeps I ever have are by a mountain river, that rich serenade of water never fails to lull me into a deep and refreshing sleep. The frozen falls should be magic and I can "see" them and the frozen exhaust of your breath as you and Jeff wander about them. Look forward to seeing them!

Robb

It all sounds so fantastic and romantic. Hearing the water while you go to sleep. How peaceful.

Years ago my wife and I stayed in a little cabin with a stream flowing alongside. And, believe it or not, there was a water wheel right outside of our window. We lay there in bed and fell asleep to the sounds of the water splashing over the wheel. It was great.

Love you photos.

Happy trails.

Robb, you paint such a beautiful picture and are inspiring. :D

Thank you, dear friend.

Shell, maybe we'll end up there at the same time one day and can meet each other. :D

Thank you.

Swu, what a splendid time you had at that cabin. That must have been ideal.:D I am among kindred spirits here. :D

Thanks!

Hugs, JJ

Wow! Thank you, Jinghui. What a awesome award. I'll post it soon. :D

LZ, wild wave. The Tahquamenon Falls - upper and lower - are an great place to tour. :D Thank you. :D

Rick, we are sooooo lucky to live here, even though I'm freezing this morn. :D Thank you. :D

Suzanne, thanks. I love seeing patterns outside and the stacked and colorful rowboats caught my eye right away.

Good morning....brrr...need to wear gloves in the house until the wood stove heats it. You should have seen the birds in the trees waiting for seed today.

Excellent shot JJ. Looks like rowboats are always of the similar color. I shot similar in Italy, blue and red....

BTW such a nice romantic and cute post.

Thanks for sharing my friend.
