Tahquamenon Falls offers idyllic winter scenery to the hardy tourist who braves the elements to capture the beauty of this wondrous Michigan setting. The snow draped forest bends into beautiful shapes and spurs the imagination. This shot was taken from the outlook at the Upper Falls. I have taken many shots which will always stay in my heart.
Jeff and I will head back soon to snowshoe to the Lower Falls. No trail has been cleared like to the Upper Falls, although the park has been plowed. Everywhere we look we are captivated by the beauty of this area tucked inside the Lake Superior State Forest. Is it time to travel now!!!
Have I told you lately how much I looooove living in Michigan!!! It takes awhile to grow thick skin when the temps dip to zero or below, but there are winter days when the sun warms my face and the deep blue sky appears once more. Those are the days I revel in the time when Michigan is farther from the sun.
Have a super day, dear friends. :D
Hugs, JJ

Wow! lovely description- I am a new visitor to your blog but can tell you I am definitely hooked! As I said before being a Geography student, nature always comes first for me:)
keep up the good work!
Thank you, Mithe. :D I'm happy you enjoyed the Tahquamenon Falls post. :D I can breathe in the surroundings just thinking about the place.
Thanks for visiting.

Beautiful image JJ!!!
Just to say hello... ;)
Lovely photo. You can have the dark & snow & cold, though. Almost 6 years after leaving Canada, I still don't miss it!
It's always wonderful when someone finds a place that suits them, where they belong, and it deffinitely seems that you've managed to do just that :)
Living in Michigan does sound wonderful! A "little" cold weather doesn't get you down!
JJ this is beautiful. Makes you appreciate equally all four seasons. Thanks for sharing. Anna :)
The ice draping the landscape is so picturesque! It's great you go outdoors and enjoy yourselves in such cold weather.Brrrrr
*Hugs*
JJ:
Another great picture and wonderful write up. I wonder, how long does it take you to hike in to those places? Do you camp for the night, or is it a one day in and out? Personally, I can't imagine unfolding the old sleeping bag and sleeping out on the snow, but then 70 degrees makes me cold.
Happy trails.
Bob, thank you. :D
Bunka, wild wave!!!
Lana, I would only like the snow for a month or two...any longer and it's all waiting for spring. :D Thanks, hon.
Bitter Chocolate, I do belong in Michigan. :D Thank you, dear.
Chris, thanks. The sun has broken through the fluffy clouds above the rattling poplar branches and it's beautiful today. We're having a Jan thaw for a day or two.
Anna, I would miss the four seasons if I didn't have them. Nature has such awesome changes. I know you love these seasons too. :D Thanks, hon.
Sameera, we have better weather today. Jeff is building me a snowman for the birds to land on outside. :D
Swubird, you don't have to camp to see Tahquamenon Falls - the Upper or Lower. It's not more than a hop, skip and jump from the car. The state of the highways are more of a concern when traveling there to tour in the winter.
Thank you!!!
Hugs, JJ
