Mighty Lake Huron gave a great heave this winter and piled up a blue ice pressure ridge for Jeff and I to explore. Traversing around it was tricky because snow covered some of jagged ice and we slipped a few times - feeling the pain of the sharpness on our knee caps.
But, oh, the photo time we had. You can imagine the surreal atmosphere with the the stacked blue shapes of ice and the snowscape looking like the top of a mountain range as we gazed over over the hilly formations.
We wanted to snap more pics a couple of days ago, but after we waded through the deep snow to the lakeshore, we listened to the ice alive with hollow sounds. Jeff pointed towards the long beautiful pressure ridge and said, "Look, it's moving. The whole thing is moving."
There is always next winter. :D Spring, I welcome you with open arms!!!
Hugs, JJ

I love how you find so much joy in nature in all of it's forms.
Kia ora JJ,
I used to love exploring the winter shore line on Lake Michigan! Love the photo, looks like you could be on the Scott expedition in Antartica. It is bloody hot here, so your picture helps cool me off! Have a great day.
Aroha,
Robb
~Sounds like spring is on the way! My bike is more than ready for a warm season (but I'd LOVE to explore some of that blue ice).
Beautiful JJ! not just the picture alone, but the insights imbibed in the weaving of words...
nature , bestowing the best of lessons...slipping and hurting, listening to the voices of the void...wow! love and hugs to you..
You'd probably appreciate the ice pack that builds up at the base of Niagara Falls every Winter, as well as the huMONGous icicles that form along the gorge. Lovely photo here.
Great shot JJ. Looks like one of those Antarctica expedition shots you see in National Geographic LOL That would be something hearing the ice come alive. Spring is around the corner but old man winter still has his grip here.
Take care.

Robb, I can see you exploring the Lake Michigan shoreline. :D That love for nature is probably why you ended up in OZ. :D
Heather, I KNOW you would have had a great time on the blue ice. :D
YAY!!! that you are thinking of biking again.
Jeff just saw a seagull. Spring definitely is on the way. :D
Merging Point, aw, you always make me feel special, dear friend. :D I love what you "see" in my posts.
Lana, I DREAM of seeing Niagara Falls in the winter. :D Sounds heavenly.
JD, it did remind Jeff and I of pole exploration. :D I hope winter eases away gracefully. We have 40 degrees today.
THANK YOU, dear friends!!! You are the best!!!
Hugs, JJ
JJ:
Wow! How beautiful. It also looks like it was a nice calm day - no wind. True? I know what you mean about those sharp tipped pieces of ice. I've had such an accident.
Great picture.
Happy trails.
With all that movement going on Spring is around the corner.
It's a beautiful picture JJ,the glistening ice and the snow ; you've captured the essence of the season.
I've started a new blog on "Gardens of the World", do drop by.
Take care.
What a fantastic shot. I love that Jeff is wearing the same colors as the ice. You clever girl!
Swubird, thank you. The wind was mild that day. :D I'm glad Jeff and I had that adventure without freezing our faces numb.

Sedona, thank you, dear. :D
John, thanks. You have a good cause.
Bitter Chocolate, Jeff and I were hoping we could finally get close to blue ice for pics. In other years it was too far out and I don't have a telephoto lens.
Thank you. :D
Hugs, JJ
Whoa! This photo looks like you are floating on air with the ice as the mat:)
I liked the post below too-the lady looks so homely...
Mithe, thanks. :D Jeff and I had a fun time this winter. Now the snow is melting...melting...Snow Lady has lost her face but the birds can still perch on her head.
Hugs, JJ
