Outside the pines are groaning with their heavy mantles of snow as they wait for the sun to draw nearer to the Earth. While the trees are sagging, we walk around in heavy coats and boots and wear woolen scarves and hats - just as burdened. We've bundled up since last October. Winter does weigh us down more in February and March, especially if we're geared to warmer weather. We need a break. :D Vitamin D calls to us.
Here is an autumn photo that was snapped of our two-track. AH! That's better. I'm ready to give up the crunchy snow walks today. Give me an autumn trail where the leaves flutter in the wind all day. Give me the fragrance of the damp rich earth as it prepares to receive its nourishment. I'm soooo there in my mind right now. In the precious days of glory before the landscape became frozen.
I was outside yesterday snapping photos and was knee deep in snow. That's hard walking. My snowshoes won't work in all the places I trek so I post hole dug my way around. My knees were so stiff I could barely move them last night...but that wore off and I am ready to go again.
During the ragged last weeks of winter I am happy to have other seasonal photos to enjoy. :D Autumn and spring are my favorite times of the year. What are yours?
Hugs, JJ

Thank you for that photo! Got any summer ones? :D I'm sure winter's leaving sooooon!!! Ok, maybe that's just wishful thinking, but I mean... enough with it already! :D (Yes I'm the type that lives for other seasons :))
Bitter Chocolate, I'll post a summer photo next. It's great having a kindred spirit. :D
Thanks, hon.

This photo shows us paradise, what a beauty! I love the colors of autumn.
One of my favorite songs to illustrate the beauty of autumn is:
Autumn leaves by Coldcut (you can find it at LastFM or Youtube).
Have a great Sunday!
Autumn has always been my favorite -if I can stay in that moment and not think about what will follow! It's so much easier to do my favorite activities in the warm months; summer has gained stature with me over the past few years!
Beautiful reminder of warmer days! :D Can you believe it was in the negatives here today...buuurrrr can't wait until those trees start to bud with new life....just as soon as the sun returns to the equator, and it is taking it's sweet time! lol :) thank you again for posting such a great photo.
Now this would be my kind of place to go walking! Such a gorgeous shot! Please tell me the snow is going to go away soon...please... LOL!!
This Makes My Day, thank you. :D "Autumn leaves" is a great song! You have me humming. :D How lucky I am to live where the four seasons take place. I'm glad you enjoy that beautiful season too.
Footsteps, you make the most out of your seasons. I love your adventures. :D
Nature Lovin', thank you dear. I am happy you enjoyed the photo. I can't believe the frigid temps we have for the beginning of March. -14F tonight. Ugh

Shellmo, we sure have been through a tough winter. But I see 40s mentioned in the forecast. Spring is on her way. :D
Thanks, dear. Autumn walks are the best!!!

Hi JJ, what a great photo! Like you I love Autumn too in spite of living in a country where the grass is always green. Reminds me of Keats' Ode to Autumn!
Kat, thank you. :D I must search for Keats' Ode to Autumn!!!
Hugs, JJ
Beautiful photo. I wish we had those colors here in the North Island of New Zealand. Some trees do turn but we never have that brilliance.

Nicely written…

Bob, thanks. Spring has great charm too. :D I watch the leaves grow and the forest turn to lush green, and I marvel at how fast God can make skeleton trees look awesome. :D
Mithe, aw, thanks. :D I'm happy you enjoyed the autumn photo. I know what you mean about playing catch up.

JJ you keep warm out there and be careful with deep snow. So you are teasing us, this is such a nice warm photo. Anna :)
JJ:
I can just see that picture on a Hallmark greeting card. Autumn Trails. It's really beautiful.
Happy trails.
Great shot! I think I'm with you on fave seasons now. Spring because everything's blooming & hatching & there's so much color & life & Fall because the oppressive heat is slowly receeding.
I must admit that Winter & I haven't been enemies since I moved to the deep South, either.
