Icy Footprint Art

Icy footprints capture my imagination and I love snapping photographs of them. A beech leaf floated down to the indentation on the ice and turned this footprint into art. The smaller beech trees retain their autumn leaves until a couple of weeks before spring. It's amazing how they can survive the blizzards that have people staying inside. These leaves add a golden touch of color to a skeleton forest and the eye clings to them because they are hope for the future when life returns again to the sleeping landscape. Sometimes the beech leaves rattle like dry bones in the wind but they hold tight during the roughest of times. A good lesson.

Guess what size my boot is. :D

*This photo should lie horizontal...anyone understand why it changed in the upload?

"...rattle like dry bones in the wind..." I love it. Absolutely stupendous picture. It has a kind of iceman look as if you've stumbled across something that was made ten thousand years ago.

JJ: Thank you so much for the very nice review on Blog catalog. I really appreciate your comments.

Happy trails.

Swu, thank you. :D I had that very feeling when I saw the footprint had made an impression in the ice.

You're welcome for the blog review. You sure are talented!!!

I can tell you love your state and the outdoors as much as I love my state's flora and fauna. Thanks so much for sharing.

I used to walk the beaches at Lake Michigan. Pretty country there.

Keep up the good work!

Summer is coming your way because it is slipping away fom us by degrees. We still have sunny warm days but the nights have a definite chill to them. I've never see an icy footstep before.

What a good eye you have JJ, it is amazing what a little leave can do. Don't know why it flipped JJ, it just does sometimes, I usually flip it the way I don't want it, and then it flips it the way I want, lol.

You always find unique beauty JJ - I love this! And is your foot a 7 1/2 or a size 8? :)

Poet, thank you. :D Lake Michigan is gorgeous with its sandy beaches and wavy vastness. I love when Jeff and I travel along it on our way to Wisconsin.

Suzanne, that ice was on our two-track. It's mostly melted now. :D We have about three weeks of that thick ice every winter. It happens when the warmer weather melts the snow during the day and then it freezes at night. A good indication that spring has made her first moves. :D

Stay warm, dear. :D

Bob, thank you. :D I love finding shots like this.

I have asked blogger about the photo posting problem.

Shellmo, thank you, hon. I'm happy you enjoyed the photo. :D

My boot is a size 4 boys. I bought the boots in that section because I like the looks of them. That translates to a size 6 women's shoe.

Have a super evening, dear friends!

Hey JJ you are very creative, the leaf really adds nice contrast to the footprint. You know my imagination is wild, but from far away I can see a penguin, lol. Thanks for sharing, Anna :)

Heather, thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the ice print photo.:D When I broke my arm the doctor said I have the bones of a twelve year old. I guess I'm petite.

Jinhui, I have been searching for Big Foot. :D Love the idea of him actually existing.

Thank you! I am waiting for the buds to burst open so I can start snapping beautiful flower photos. The snow and ice grows wearisome this time of year. I don't want to see a frozen landscape but instead want to inhale the fragrance of new green.

Anna, I should have seen that penguin myself. :D Thank you, dear. I love contrast in a photo.

Hi JJ,
Haven't been visiting for some time now - was away travelling in Indonesia. Its already end of March and looks like the snow is still thick in Michigan! Wow... must be lovely. And your bit on birche leaves reminds me of your famous poet who wrote Birches - how tough and flexible it is. Beautiful imagery the birch leaf.
