Tahquamenon Falls Surreal Riverbank

Today was beautiful! A great day to escape from the long dragged out winter and drive in the sunshine to the Tahquamenon Falls of Michigan. The sun warmed us as we drove along the bare highway - ah, no ice - and robins flew across the median as we traveled to the great Upper Peninsula spot. That song ...When the red red robin comes bob bob bobbin... started playing in my head after I saw the orange breasted birds. It's a bright upbeat song, but I knew Jeff would only want to hear me sing it once this spring so I'll wait for the right moment. LOL

When we arrived at the falls the road that led into the park hadn't been plowed and the snow ridges and water rivulets made for a bouncy car entrance so Jeff drove slow. Wouldn't want to drop a muffler or anything.

We found the pathway to the falls not icy but soft with melting snow. Easy to walk on but I am glad I wore my boots. Jeff and I stopped at all the viewing areas and took in the sights.

At the roaring tannin falls I wanted to snap this riverbank photo because of the surreal atmosphere it gives the tourist. I had already posted an Upper Tahquamenon Falls photo this winter and realized I hadn't shown this kind of shot.

All in all, it was a great day. :D The best part was - we didn't eat any junk food on the way there and back. YAY!!! We're starting to grow up. :D

My life is a little busy right now in a good way. SQUEE! I promise to return visits to your blogs soon, dear friends.

Hugs, JJ

Love the pic and your adventures. I'm such an inside person that I have to live the great outdoor through other people and you give excellent descriptions and the pics are fabulous!

Another beautiful and well photographed picture. It all sounds wonderful. What a nice way to spend the day. But - no food! Yikes! Not even an apple or a small sandwich? I would be dead tired if I didn't eat anything. When it's cold like that, how about a big stack of hot pancakes covered with melted butter and warm syrup? Yumboza.

Happy trails.

Liane, thank you, hon. I looove winter when it shows us scenes like this. :D

Leah, Woot! that you can enjoy the outdoors through my nature photos and descriptions. Thank you, dear. :D

Swubird, thank you! Next week those icicles will probably have melted. I'm glad they hung in there for the photo. :D

It was no 'junk food'. We had protein bars instead and I drank citrus green tea. I must admit the pancakes and syrup are sounding good this morn. :D

I can imagine setting a book near there. The atmosphere in your photo would lend itself to great drama.

Anna, spring weather does bring energy back!!! WOOT!!! I'm happy you enjoyed the Tahquamenon Falls photo. :D Thank you. :D

Suzanne, there is dramatic scenery in Michigan. :D The four seasons are great for that. I wish winter wouldn't last soooooo long but am not complaining. The sun shines brightly today and the snow is MELTING!!!

Woot!!!

Hi! Love the image! But the only time I get to see something like this, is when I open the freezer door.

Now, anything in moderation is good for the soul and the heart, so give in and tell me what it's like! The last time I had junk food was yonks ago!

Take Care,
Peter

It's like a scene out of a fairy tale book!
Snow melting, birds welcoming the new season ; a perfect scenario!
Wonderful post JJ !
Take care and hugs.

Peter, Jeff and I actually felt more alert not traveling with junk food. A lesson learned. :D The few minutes of enjoying candy isn't worth the added pounds or the highs and lows of the sugar count.

Love your refrigerator joke. :D

Thanks. I'm happy you enjoyed the post.

Sadia, thank you. :D Visiting the Upper Tahquamenon Falls in the winter does feel like stepping into a fairy tale. I hope the spot ends up in a movie one day. That would be awesome.

Nice photo, JJ. There is such beauty in the details...

~And "good for you!" on skipping the junk food. I think it really does make a difference in one's energy level.

Lovely, if cold! Reminds me of icicles hanging in the Niagara gorge (although those can grow up to dozens of pounds & many feet long.)

Lana, I long to see Niagara Falls! Thank you!
