Creek Reflections

As spring marches on, I am spending time alongside our creek and snapped this photo the other day. Don't you love to gaze at creek reflections! Inverted trees were giving the tannin waters greater interest. As I stood there admiring the shimmering images, I had time to doing some soul searching, musing about how my reflection looks to others. I am embraced by the soothing sounds of the outdoors, from the babbling brook to singing birds and the melodic spring peepers. It makes me dance with my arms outstretched. And I hope I am sharing those moments with you. Soon I'll hear the whispering poplars tell their stories like hundreds of mingling hushed voices. Add that to the creek walk and I am in heaven.

When I was a kid, there was a creek by our house that I spent oodles of time along, finding aquatic life, enjoying the fast or slow current pace, depending on the weather. You can imagine how pleased I was later in life to have a creek run through our property :D We even have a small island we traverse to via a fallen tree. Jeff and I are truly kids at heart and that never will change.

Do you have a favorite creek in your past or present. How has it influenced you?

I also updated my professional blog. Come and check out the new pic and post. :D

Am almost recuperated from my surgery. A few more days and I'll have my old self back. Or should I say young? LOL

Hugs, JJ

REally love your blog JJ. Every time I open it to read I am welcomed by the bright cheery smile of the daffodil and I automatically smile back! Yes I do have a little stream at the back of my grandma's house that I used to catch tiny rainbow coloured fish. Unfortunately, with development the stream has gone.

Kat, thank you. :D I hope you find another stream to enjoy. :D We were blessed as children to wander along one.

I didn't have a creek or stream to sit by when I was a child, but I had something just as good. I had the great Mojave Desert behind our house. For as far as far as the eye could see there was nothing but rolling hills covered with sage and Joshua trees. I loved to walk way out in the desert and just look at the huge blue sky. I truly miss those days. But now we have the beach. It's a different feeling, but it's still a wonder of nature and your mind can get lost in its great expanse.

Happy trails.

Not a creek, but a pond. It was a lovely little place, full of fish & home to nesting birds of all kinds. Early in my youth the "big money" moved in & by the time I left the area at 18 yrs old, the pond was dead & it's area strewn with garbage.
I hate people.

JJ - I hope you are feeling okay!! Sending good wishes your way! That creek photo was stunning - I couldn't stop looking at it!!

Robb, I looove your mountain trek photos and posts. Sigh of contentment. :D Thank you. :D

Swu, your desert walks must have been awe inspiring!!! I'm glad you have a beach to enjoy.

Lana, that must have been painful to see your pond dry up. I know how you love nature. It's hard let beloved nature go to construction. The other day I was wondering what the beautiful Earth looked like before man set a hand to her.

Shellmo, just had a lovely morning walk. Thank you for asking. Am making sure I rest more this time since the surgery was repeated, but definitely have most of the healing behind me.

I'm happy you enjoyed the creek photo. :D

Hugs, JJ

Absolutely beautiful. There is something about the way that the wind light plays upon water that calls something deep and mysterious from within us, like a half-remembered dream or a memory of a time before our thoughts had names. Whatever it is, it is beautiful and soothes the soul.

Bob, thank you. :D I looove the creek water. It's always changing.

Spilt Ink, beautifully said. A reflection does touch upon the mysterious and kindles our imaginations, giving us a different perspective on life.

Beautiful shot JJ. Very artistic. Well done!
During my lifetime I've had numerous favorite creeks ... moving every now and then I adopted new ones on the way. Now, I have a creek that runs along one side of my property...the sound of flowing water fills the air and at night (especially nowadays) the early evening is filled with the serenade of frogs. Absolutely wonderful and soothing.
BTW love the new header. Another great shot. (I know its been a while) :-)
Take care JJ and God Bless. Hope you're feeling better post surgery.

Thanks, JD. What a beautiful poetic reply to my creek post. :D

I am almost back to my normal self. :D Walked farther today with Jeff. The day has been hot and windy and soooo beautiful with the flush of new leaves in the forest. I've been watching the foliage flutter in the wind. AHHH!!! Such beauty against a blue sky.

Hello JJ and happy spring!

It has been a busy one for me indeed, but I am glad to come over and visit!!!

The weather has been so beautiful and every day now I am in bliss of taking in the outdoors. I cannot say I have a favorite creek, but I have come accross a bunch in my hiking adventures and I have to say I have loved them all!

be the kid-like as you are and lot more to explore and revel.
reflections are indeed greatly dependent on the surface of reflection too. so lets ensure to clear the debris and automatically,
the beauty gets reflected crystal clear. loved the shot!

Wishing you a speedy recovery, JJ!

Hi JJ....

Very nice image...

I really enjoyed how you took me for this walk and experience with you...

There were creeks and streams of my childhood but as I grew up along the confluence of the Kicking Horse and Columbia rivers they dominated along with the Rocky Mountains.

I love nature...our environment but I also like the urban centers...
:)

Nice photo you have there. The reflection does speaks for itself.

Hi! I didn't know you had surgery, hope everything is ok! Now, growing up as a lad my favourite creek was the gutter out the front of my parents home when the summer thunderstorms brought torrents of water for us to swim in. A bit sad but that's how it was!

Take Care,
Peter

Beautiful colors and textures in the water. My first impression was of goldfish or Koi swimming around. Reflections are always an interesting subject, turning common objects into uncommon abstracts. Very nice, JJ.

Evita, spring bliss. AH!!! I'm still walking around with my jaw dropped. My eyes were starved for color.

I bet you have had some AWESOME hiking trips. I looove your blog photos and posts!!!

Merging Point, what beautiful imagery. Looove the way you think. :D Thanks, hon.

Livingsword, what a beautiful area you grew up in. When I read your name, I always think of living waters. :D

Thank you.

nix74, thank you! Another kindred spirit. :D I'm glad you posted.

Peter, rain gutters are fascinating! I remember them as a kid too.

I'm fine now. It's taking a bit longer to heal this time but every day brings progress.

Thank you!

Mark, I looove abstracts and water reflections are the perfect medium, always changing. Thank you!

Hugs, JJ

When I was growing up, our farm had a creek running through the bottom of a gully. We used to catch a small cousin to the crayfish down there and enjoy feasts cooked alongside the creek.
Lovely photo. Keep well.

Suzanne, thanks for the lovely reply. :D

I am taking it easy to make sure the surgery holds this time. Doing well. :D

Hi JJ, I am glad that everything went well with the surgery! Please do take care of yourself to heal. And funny you say about the creek. We used to have one when I was young too, and used to pick on the life there too, small fish, worms, plants etc. And I also remember when our cow almost drown in that creek too, it was like a quick sand, I guess mud in that case. But she was saved. My grandmother later reflected, how hard it was to look into her eyes, as she thought she will almost die. It was hard for her to talk about it too, as she was the one looking into her eyes too, the eyes that cried for help, but she did saved her, by getting attention and getting help. Nice story to remember, I thought I share it with you. Again, glad that you are recovering well, all the best to Jeff. Anna :) PS on my way to check your gallery.
